Isolated Equipment

A common problem is supplying cold air to equipment that is not in a rack row or aisle. Supply air located in front of isolated equipment for the most part only cools the room’s ambient air. As a result the AC supply temperature is set considerably colder then necessary so as to meet the manufacturer’s recommended supply temperature. The SubZero Polar Panel™ contains the supply air to the equipment intake only. This ensures an intake temperature at the supply set point, which allows facility AC set points to be maintained at a higher temperature.

The Polar Panel™

The Polar Panel™ is a rolling three-sided containment system that isolates supply air from as many as three perforated tiles (6 feet wide). Made of aluminum and FM 4910 materials the Polar Panel™ is both safe and strong. The four-wheeled system makes moving the Polar Panel™ easy to do during system maintenance.

Without the Polar Panel™ containment system cold supply air only reaches up to 1/3 of the compute intake.

With the Polar Panel™ containment system the cold supply air reaches to the top of the computer intake.

  • •Eliminate cold air mixing with hot exhaust air.
  • •Ensure cold supply air from the bottom to the top of the cabinet.
  • •Eliminate recirculation.
  • •Prevent low AC set points so as to supply just a few isolated computers.
