Rack Hat™The Rack Hat™ containment system separates hot and cold airflow by partitions mounted from the drop-ceiling grid. The partitions form a rectangle around the aisle. Aluminum tracks are mounted to the drop-ceiling grid as a means to attach a drop down material. Fire resistant clear vinyl or FM 4910 listed material is hung from the aluminum track. The drop-down material hangs down from the aluminum track to the top of the rack, which forms a barrier between hot and cold airflow.
The fire resistant vinyl drop-down material overlaps where the aluminum track is connected to create one continuous partition. The aluminum track is design with a continuous running top slider so that a connection to the ceiling can be made at any point along the track The aluminum track is designed to link together with a center splicer so as to create one continuous track system. The Rack Hat™ is a MODULAR ASSEMBLY SYSTEM that ships in standard sized kits. Each kit comes with all the material necessary to cover a specific area. Kits have two important measurements:
Each kit connects together with both an aluminum splicer and a 1-inch vinyl overlap. Drop down lengths range from24 inches to well over 10 feet.
How to Design ContainmentContainment systems are designed to form a rectangle around either the hot or cold aisle. The Rack Hat™ comes in kits with two key measurements: 1) Length of aluminum support track measured in feet 2) Length of the drop down material fire resistant curtain measured in inches. Starting at one corner of the rectangle determine how many kits are required to cover an area of the same drop down length. Adjust to different kit sizes to fit drop down lengths of a different size. The fire resistant vinyl comes in these standard drop-down sizes:25, 52, 94, 108, 120, 144, 180 (inches). The aluminum track comes in 1-6 feet.
The Rack Hat Corners create one continuous curtain containment.
Rack Hat can be connected to the ceiling grid with Electric Thermal Links (ETL) that will release the curtain containment with a low volt surge from the smoke detectors.
Rack Hat can be terminated to the floor with aluminum to create a soft wall. Note below the contrast between the Subzero Engineering corner system and what is commonly used by others. The corner on the right is what we commonly see by competitors. Note how easily air can move between the ends of two sheets of vinyl. The corner on the left is the Subzero Engineering corner which is continuous.
