Subzero Engineering Knows Fire Codes

Containment systems are designed to separate hot and cold airflow. Unfortunately it also alters the sprinkler patterns of aqueous fire suppression systems. (Containment systems do not alter gaseous fire suppression systems because airflow is not restricted.) Attachment links that release in a fire suppression event solve the containment blockage problem. All Subzero Engineering products have characteristics that  designed to work safely with all fire suppression systems. For instance our Polar Panel Roof system has UL/FM rated panels that shrink and drop should a fire suppression event occurs. Likewise The Polar Cap system is designed to retract the roof into a metal cassette should a fire suppression event occur. The Rack Hat Ceiling Partition System releases from the ceiling grid during a fire suppression event.

Subzero Engineering products are available in two types of UL/FM thermal links:

  • Heat sensitive thermal links. These separate at the same time as the sprinkler heads activate. The ceiling partition drops and preserves the designed sprinkler patterns.

  • Low volt thermal links. These are tied to the smoke detectors. When the smoke detectors are activated, a low voltage signal from the detector will melt the thermal link.

firedetectorSubzero Engineering products can be configured to work with the smoke detector system using Electronic Thermal Links. ETL's operate on 9 volt systems that will disengage a containment system should a smoke detector detects a fire.
